Each city partner across its 16 European countries will host a cross-sectoral symposium exploring the relationship between the city and its Ulysses inspired ARTS & SOCIETY theme – migration, democracy, mental health, environmental pollution, social co-existence, sexual equality and freedom of speech, amongst others. In June 2024 all partners will gather in Dublin to discuss the outcomes of the city symposia and a statement will be published in late 2024, structured in the form of 309 questions and possible answers (as inspired by episode 17 of Ulysses) regarding the role of Arts & Society in a better future Europe.

Speakers: A representative of Sindicato Labrego Galego (First Galician quantitative farmers workers union with special local village food programme) / Pablo Lodeiros, CEO of Lodeiros Caves, popular brand of vermouth working according to socially responsible ecologic production / Pedro González, CEO of Deleite Galician milk brand famous for its local production, fair trade and cultural mentorship. Moderator: María Sánchez, third generation vet, best-selling poet and expert in Spanish rural gastronomy.

Speakers: Alberto Gonzalez Villar: Director of Ourense City Market / a representative of Lugo Markets / Adrián Lago, Ceo of Queixo do Castelo, Cebreiro cheese. Moderator: María Sánchez, third generation vet, best-selling poet and expert in Spanish rural gastronomy.

Speakers: Alvaro Vilasante (star-chef from the local Paprika Restaurant / Inés Suarez (PR for Torre de Nuñez First Galician Spanish hams and cold cuts brand) / representative of Lugo USC University Campus Terra: Creative Industries Management / Rosa Bugallo (donors programme responsible for Martín Codax Caves, leaders in export and popular by music mentorship).

Open Participatory Round Table

12.00-12.30: The public were invited to participate in the thematic debate. Moderator: Isaac Xubín (writer and literary researcher specialised in gastronomy). Also present: Uxío Novo, Urbact local coordinator on Sustainable Food in Urban communities (2013-17) & Alberto Lema, A Coruña city ex-councillor on Markets responsible of Urbact Rurban and Rur-Al projects (2015-19).
