In May 2023 a series of neighbourhood gatherings took place in the districts of Budapest with the aim of sharing local stories, exchanging experiences from the past and from more recent periods.
Professional and amateur storytellers explored their connections to the district, completed with excerpts of archives and literary references. The collected materials fed into the Grand Novel Budapest, a major publication compiled by 23 contemporary writers which was published in November 2023.
In May 2024 the episodes of the Grand Novel Budapest will be performed in the neigbourhoods they originate from. Exact dates to be announced shortly.
