Based on the first chapter of Ulysses, ‘Telemachus’, The Syrian and Greek Youth Forum/SGYF collaborated with Onassis Stegi for a project that raised questions around movement, youth and citizenship in Athens, Europe and the Mediterranean today. The project unfolded across four Med-iterations. In this workshop the invited artists, activists, and academics shared how their working practices encounter, interact with, and challenge narratives in their geographical space of activity. The workshop centred on Athens but also reflected on the relations between this city and other cities — exploring how multiple cities exist in one space; asking how we make and remake urban space (as Joyce does) through memory and creativity.

Audience feedback
“This means hearing the Mediterranean as a space of encounter, commonality, contestation; as a city. We respond through speaking (and singing) youth movements, mobile citizenships, circling histories.” – Syrian and Greek Youth Forum
